The Health Care Assistance Program offers prevention and education workshops to promote the early detection of breast and cervical cancer, as well as HIV prevention. Workshops are offered in Spanish and English, and outreach efforts are primarily focused on reaching the Latino community. TWC staff also assists clients in locating resources for testing and follow-up services, such as:

  • Self breast exams
  • Mammograms
  • Annual well-woman exams
  • HIV testing and safe sex information
  • Advocacy and patient navigation for women's health needs

History

  • This program began in 1999 with a $21,000 3 year “New Project Grant” from United Way to start a “Latina Breast and Cervical Cancer Prevention Program”
  • We Partnered with Health District and Health Department
