This
program offers in-home educational workshops, or 'charlas' in an informal
setting that promotes the early detection of breast and cervical cancer
as well as HIV/AIDS and STD prevention. There are typically 5-10 participants
and the program targets medically underserved women.

Care Assistance Program
The
Dental Assistance Program links low-income, uninsured and underinsured
women with dental providers throughout the county who participate by
offering reduced-fee care.

Larimer County, by phone or on a walk-in basis.

Breast
Cancer:
- 1
out of 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer
- Larimer
County has had 915 cases of breast cancer and 135 deaths related
to breast cancer
- Women
with no insurance are 2.3 times more likely to die of breast cancer
that women with private insurance
- Early
detection is the key to successful treatment
Cervical
Cancer
- Cervical
cancer is the 10th most common cancer among women and is almost
100% treatable with early detection
- PAP
tests are the most effective method of early detection of cervical
cancer
HIV/AIDS
- The
fastest growing rate of HIV is among young women ages 13-24 years
old
- Of
the people that test positive for HIV/AIDS, 31% never return to
get their test results
STDs
- Women
are physiologically more susceptible to infections and less likely
to experience symptoms right away, resulting in late detection and
treatment
- Women
make up 75% of the patients receiving medical care for STD’s
- Larimer
